An espressionistic (espresso, strong, black coffee) 17-year-old girl has shot to fame by using latte to
create these incredible 3D sculptures. The Singaporean self-taught “latte
artist” posts pictures of cuddly (soft and pleasant to hold close to you), fluffy (made or covered with soft fur or cloth) animals as well as pizza slices, artistic scenes and
superheroes made of milky coffee foams. Daphne said: “I would say the secret is
patience, in handling the foam and making sure that you have steady (still and not shaking) hands when you draw the details.
What sparked my interest was a school program where I
had the opportunity to attend a workshop on the appreciation (an understanding of how good something or
someone is so that you are able to enjoy them) of gourmet coffee. “I was experimenting with a
French press and found a method to create stable foam to make 3D art on top of
my cups. “I was curious about how foam was create for lattes/cappuccinos and
searched online for ways to do it at home. Through my research, I discovered 3D
latte art.”
She makes the thick foam using
a Nespresso milk frother (the tool to make a mass of
small bubbles and foam) on a mix of carob powder (powder from the ground seeds of the carob tree; used as chocolate substitute), soy milk and water.
And then uses a thin bamboo
skewer (a long, thin metal pin used for holding together pieces of food, especially meat, during cooking), and two spoons to shape her brew (if you brew tea or coffee, you make it by adding hot water, and if it brews, itgradually develops flavour in hot water) for each creation.
Daphne
spends between 10 and 20 minutes on each one and uses natural food coloring and
melted chocolate to make the drinks which look too good to drink.🍵🍰
