There
was bread on the table and Clarke tore at a chunk
(a part of something, a roughly cut piece), realizing it had been sometime since her last meal.
'Are we ordering wine?' her companion

the waiter asked.
'House,' Clarke agreed.
'Small or large?'
'Large.'
'Same for me,' Galvin told him.

do seem to be talking shop (to talk about your job with those
you work with when not at work) …'
'I looked

Scotland) … married to a lawyer called Bethany…'
Studied it
at university but ended up in politics instead - I dare say he did some cramming
(to try to learn a lot very quickly before an exam) before taking on the
Justice portfolio.
